GOD’S ANSWER TO ECONOMIC OPPRESSION

I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass; and forgettest the LORD thy maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and hast feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor? The captive exile hasteneth that he may be loosed, and that he should not die in the pit, nor that his bread should fail. But I am the LORD thy God, that divided the sea, whose waves roared: The LORD of hosts is his name. And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people. ISAIAH 51:12‭-‬16 KJV

I have been preaching for years about economic oppression. This passage in Isaiah is about that.

Economic oppression is utility companies multiplying the price of gas and electricity and forcing millions into poverty, knowing there is nothing people can do about it and with the compliance of a weak government, WHILE THEY MAKE MASSIVE PROFITS from people’s misery and pain.

This passage in Isaiah is very accurate. People are trapped as captive exiles, fearing they will die and that their bread will fail, because of oppression.

Note that God’s Word in our mouth is the answer to this situation, under the shadow of His hand, which is a powerful metaphor for the Holy Spirit.

God’s Word and His Spirit are all that is required to break economic oppression in our nation. Human solutions will not suffice. Only those who know their God can effectively function in this hour, when the oppressor seeks to enslave and destroy.

There is no need for the believer to fear the oppressor. What is very clear, however, is that we are in a spiritual battle and the root causes of our present troubles are spiritual, not economic or political.

When I preached in the past about economic oppression, many would be puzzled as they were comfortable or well off. Maybe some thought I was exaggerating things.

They will not be thinking that now…

It is time we understood that the economic realm is where satan seeks to oppress and enslave us. It is vital that we be equipped to overcome in this arena of battle. The crushing effect of soaring prices and shortages threatens the very existence of many across the nations. Our freedom is at stake. The souls of billions are at stake.

As Christians, we have the answer. It is time we stepped into our destiny and used it.
